About
The only girl and the youngest of four siblings – I was born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. Constantly surrounded by family, and group activities, I often yearned to stand out. As a member of a large family unit…it was often difficult, but I was able to find solace through art and the performing arts. Whether on stage or through art work, I was able to separate myself from the crowd and showcase my creativity and unique imagination.
Following high school, I continued my love for design by enrolling and then graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising of Los Angeles with an Associate Arts Degree. I used my creativity and newly acquired professional skills to help promote a number of dance companies of which I was a member. I not only danced, but used my professional skills as an artist and graphic designer to help promote my dance companies and their performances. I was in charge of promotions and marketing through my innovative web design, flyers and promotional materials.
That was just the beginning; I was able to work for a variety of professional clients and companies. My work experiences contributed greatly to the designer I am today. At one point, I designed for a music company, creating album covers and promotional materials. I also then worked for the high end cosmetics companies - Urban Decay and Hard Candy – which offered me valuable learning experiences through their website, and web design. In addition I have been able to garner valuable experience through a number of my professional clients, including a FOX News Anchor woman, for whom I created personal and professional websites.
Like my design, I am comfortable taking risks. In 2008, yearning to step out of my comfort zone and grow, I made the decision to leave Southern California and relocate to the Pacific Northwest, to Seattle, Washington. I enjoy the change of seasons, the rain, the fresh air, and the new perspective the new surroundings have offered. The city of Seattle, along with its reputation for grudge, coffee and people has provided a certain sophistication and influence I felt was lacking in my work. Clean, simple designs with just that little bit of “flavor” ingrained through experiences I’ve had through the years.
Some of my artistic inspirations include the work of Pablo Picasso. In addition, influences include Alberto Burri and Nicholas de Stael. Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquait are also artists that have had an impact on the way I view and create art. The way the colors pop, the way photos are rendered, the brush strokes, and how the layout is with those two particular artists have left an impression seen in many of the designs I’ve created today. I am also excited with mixed media created by many of Europe’s New Expressionist Abstractionists.
A lifelong learner, and a lover of design – I am always looking to grow and gain valuable perspective in the many opportunities ahead.
